Chapter 15

Liz

She didn’t want to waste time drinking more water, but the moment the cool glass touched her lips, she sucked down the hydration as though she could put out the inferno in her belly with it, knowing there was nothing except the enormous male who could ease her aching. His pheromones teased her nostrils and made the fire blaze hotter, but Blaide stuck something else between them.

Wanting to growl and knock the plate from his hands, Liz barely managed to focus on its contents before she stopped the rash urge. A myriad of baked sweets sent her nose crinkling even though they smelled delicious, because all she wanted was the rich, wild scent of the man who’d saved her.

“Eat, Red. Your body needs it.”

With his teeth clenched shut as he spoke, Liz gasped as the sight of his canines inspired an all-encompassing cramp in her lower belly. A flood of slick warmed her already soaked pants, spreading onto the sheet under her. As she regained her ability to think, Liz sucked in a labored breath and moved to meet his yellow gaze, but got caught on the neatly folded stack of blankets he’d set on the edge of the bed.

“I don’t want it.”

She reached out to the nesting material, but his reflexes were too quick. Her fingers landed on a pillow of sugary dough instead of fabric. Blaide’s purr morphed, his unintentional rumble rising in pitch and hitting something buried deep in her chest.

“Please, little omega. Let me pamper you.”

Before she gave her consent, her fingers brought the cake to her mouth. She hummed in delight as a beautiful balance of sweet and tart electrified her taste buds, but his purr of praise gave her a deeper sense of fulfillment.

Bite after bite, she ate until almost half of the plate was empty, sinking into an organic heat as his eyes followed her every move. The hunger in them made her want to rub the sweets on his flesh and explore every inch of him.

Her stomach rebelled as she reached for another treat, her longing to please him greater than her physical discomfort, but he pulled it away before she touched one. Without a word, he knocked the stack of blankets over with his thigh as he stepped backward, pulling her attention to the softness. She filled her fist with the material, testing each one before choosing which she wanted first.

As she unfolded it, her shirt slipped off her shoulder. Unsure of how she’d manage the stifling clothes, she dropped the blanket and ripped the shirt over her head, tossing it to the foot of the bed and using the bedpost to keep her balance as she stood and shucked off her pants. The knife clunked onto her toe, but she didn’t feel it, her core throbbing so fiercely she wanted to beg Blaide to take her now. She kicked the pants onto the floor then dropped back to her task.

Meticulously placing each layer until she was satisfied with the foundation of her nest, she eyed the rest of the blankets and fought back a snarl.
